Correlated Electrons in One Dimension
Lecture details
The lecture will be given by Professor Meden
In this lecture I will describe the physics of fermionic systems confined to one spatial dimension. The main focus is on metallic systems in which correlations lead to an unusual state of matter, the Luttinger liquid. Correlation induced transitions to other phases are briefly reviewed. The topics covered are:
- Experimental realization of one-dimensional system
- The Tomonaga-Luttinger model and bosonization
- Renormalization group flow towards the low energy fixed point
- The Luttinger liquid phenomenology
- Lattice models
- Gaped phases
