Poster Workshop September 2018

The aim of this international workshop is to bring together a selected group of junior and senior theorists interested in developing methods to advance the study of quantum many-body systems. We want to foster exchange between researchers but also to provide them with accessible introductions into the forefronts of the field. Each of the eight topics of the program will be introduced in a 90-minute tutorial lecture aimed at advanced master / PhD students, which is then followed by 30-minute topical talks.

"Functional Renormalization -- Phases of Matter"
"Correlated Electronic Materials: DMFT, fRG"
"Advances in Numerical Approaches:  PEPS, NRG, QMC"
"Quantum Typicality"

Participants are invited to present a poster (there will be a poster prize).

Please apply to attend before June 15th, 2018 under rtg1995@physik.rwth-aachen.de (there is no conference fee). The email should contain your name, affiliation, position and title of your poster contribution.

The workshop will take place on the campus of Forschungszentrum Jülich in the Peter Grünberg Centre with free transport from/to hotels in Aachen.

Lectures

Within the Research Training Group, lectures and seminars are offered to advanced master's students and doctoral researchers. They are categorized in the more general fields of "Basics" and "Phenomena" as well as the more specialized fields of "Computational Methods" and "Field Theory and Renormalization Group Methods".

Research

The Research Training Group is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). In 18 different projects we aim to gain a deeper understanding of collective phenomena and quantum many-body effects in extended condensed matter systems.

One of the main goals of this program is for doctoral students to learn to apply two different specialized methods.
